A P Abdullakkutty - Tomorrow's Indian politician

I have heard very positive stories about this young man from people who have directly worked with him.

A P Abdullakkutty, to me, is a great prototype of what we want from an Indian politician. He, clearly, is a prototype of what the Indian politicians do not want among themselves - the CPIM has thrown him out of the party , and the UDF has taken him in only to relegate him to the sidelines.

Consider his views
- Believes bandhs are a waste of time and inconvenience
- Is religious, and clearly separates his political beliefs (communism) from his religious beliefs (Islam)
- Respects other religions equally as his, and recognizes the centrality of religion in Indian life, rather than belittling it
- Maximises benefits to public from his MP fund
- Is very pragmatic in identifying and copying the good work done by other leaders and not tying it inexorably with their "bad" side e.g. recognized the value of Narendra Modi's developmental efforts and was able to separate it out from his "Anti-muslim activities"
- Recognizes that the minority communities have been safe,have benefited the most and are at home in India
- Is erudite, articulate and grounded

Abdullakkutty, and not yuvraj, appears to me as the Avatar of a true Indian politician of tomorrow... the parties that have rejected and sidelined him are, by corollary, anti-national.

My days in Gujarat - 1

I have been travelling through Gujarat for the last 1 1/2 years. The only exposure I had had to Gujarat before was a brief stopover at Shahibaug area in Ahmedabad when I got abandoned by a tourbus en-route to Mumbai. My impression, then, was frankly unfavourable - the place seemed filthy.

Then Godhra happened, and then the post-Godhra riots. I was as appalled by what the English media portrayed was happening in Gujarat as you may have been. However, a small voice kept nagging me. NDTV had shown a report on TV the day the train burnt, where they had mentioned a Mrs Deshpande, a daily commuter, who was one of the victims. The report had also mentioned women and children getting killed. Suddenly, these reports never appeared anymore and the story that came out was about the coach being full of kar sevaks and their provoking local muslims etc - almost painting a picture that "they had it coming" . I was also hearing the same story from members of the NGO that I used to work with, who had come from Gujarat then. Little did I know that the truth was, in fact, this:

The scale of the conspiracy to malign Gujarat and its leadership is mindboggling, and everyone is involved - the Western Press, our friends across the border, our media, the grand old party...everyone. ....and think of those 58 poor souls who got burnt to a crisp - 27 of them were women, at least one of whom was 82 years old, and 10 were children. Think also of the 750 muslims and 250 Hindus that got killed in the vicious broth of violence brewed by the anti-national conspirators merely to "fix" their nationalist opponents in power.

It was when I started working in Gujarat and travelling all over the place when I realised that every one, EVERY ONE of the stories that came out in the english media, particularly TV, from 2002 to today was either exaggerated or was an outright lie.

Gujarat could not be more different from what you expect based on the stories that the media feeds you. I found Gujarat to be warm, prosperous and modern, showing no signs of the medieval communalism that the papers and TV characterised the state as having. I also found near-unanimous support for its Chief Minister cutting across communities and classes, and this in what was then the "weakest" area for the CM, Junagadh in Saurashtra. I actually saw people from all communities come to the streets and urge their neighbours to go vote - when I asked them why, they said that if people went and voted, the CM would win!!!

Amazingly, a friend whom I met recently in Delhi shared the exact same story with me, he and his family had been independently touring the state on holiday and came up with a palette of stories that completely reinforced what I learnt.

Folks, Gujarat is the standing proof of the sheer malicious strategy that is being foisted upon us by the current political-media complex. Please visit the state, talk to its people and learn the truth. Then form your own judgement.

Welcome to the New India! We follow the same rules that countries like Malaysia do, we openly discriminate against Hindus and pamper every random joe who spews vitriol against them.

The clear message I draw from these is the following: If anyone defends Hindus from being preyed upon by barbaric invaders, he will be punished so badly, even destroyed, by the "secular" parties. If minorities, many of whom are ideologically aligned with these invaders, however, lay claim to Hindu resources, they can happily loot. Essentially, any minority member can come into my house, throw me out or murder me, and can take away all my property and family members for personal use, and my government will support the minority leader.

So, who are the real "Fascists" in India? Will some one from the secularists stand up and clarify?

Twisted Humor!

How would you like it if you woke up one fine morning and found a 67 foot tall statue of some random Brit-American in front of your beachside house? What if, to your agitated enquiry, someone told you that it was put up for a film set, and by the way, it is going to stay for ever after that? Alternatively, imagine what the reaction would be if someone put up a 67 foot tall statue of Tenali Rama in front of the Masjid at Mecca or at Vatican Square? Would the pious followers that worship there doff their hats in appreciation of the great wit, or would they do a Bamiyan, alleging "Hindu fundamentalist assault on peaceful Islam/ Christism", "Islam/ Christism in Danger" etc?

Clearly as per the above article, the so called controversy came up because the Director of the movie had decided to put up the statue without any official clearances, and without checking the convenience of the villagers. This, and the perfectly legitimate objection that the statue was coming up in a place where it was blocking the entrance to the local temple.

Suddenly, this has become a "Christian" controversy, with "Hindoo Fundoos" crawling out of the woodwork! Shame, Shame on the media for selling their souls and their civilization for money. This destructive force unleashed upon India through the airwaves must be destroyed, nay, atomised, for peace to prevail in this nation. It is time some of these arrogant, completely unaccountable blackguards were made such an example of, that the rest of these 5th columnists tremble even when the breath of a true Indian brushes by them.

Really Sucks!

I have 2 storylines to offer to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

The first one is very similar to his “Rang De Basanti” but with a few small changes
· Replace the no-hoper students with a set of genuinely sincere ones cutting across caste, class and religious lines (Hint – Youth for Equality) protesting and losing their lives over a divisive “reservation” policy
· Exchange the corrupt and arrogant “saffron” minister with an equally corrupt and arrogant HRD minister from the so called secular party, bent upon dividing youth on the lines of caste and religion
· Replace the young Hindutva zealot Laxman Pandey with a young communist or “social activist” who sees through the shallow game of the secularists and changes sides.

The second is a heartwarming story where a “Brahmin” Head-Priest of the Rameswaram Temple mentors the Muslim son of a boatman and supports his education, and the latter justifies the faith invested by the priest by rising to become India’s foremost rocket scientist and eventually its President.

Both stories are true, but both unfortunately are jarringly mismatched with Rakeyshjis view of the world and hence, will never come on the silver screen.

With Dilli 6, Rakeysh has clearly been emboldened by his backers to take on the anti-Hindu pontification to new heights. A sample list of the levers adopted by ROM in Dilli 6:
· Open mockery of the Ramayana using the Ram Lila as the background
· Subtle equation of the original being-who-can-do-no-wrong – Hanuman – to the Kala Bandar
· Portrayal of all Hindu characters as flawed (brothers fighting, the aged Lalaji with a Twinkie at home, Suresh the Photographer as a Lothario)
· Exaggeration of “Superstitious” Hindu beliefs eg a cow giving birth being given precedence over the Grandmother’s “ambulance”
· The “Dalit” garbage lady who is openly discriminated against, but is seen to shine in the end
· Portrayal of all Muslim characters as nice, sweet guys who offer jalebis in celebration of Hindu festivals and who are “provoked” by Hindus into retaliation – the eternal victimhood theory getting one more data point
· The “fakir” who holds a mirror – why ascribe a religion even to the conscience of the movie? Couldn’t ROM have used a generic madman, for example?

The list is endless.

Interestingly enough, a movie set in the heart of Delhi doesn’t even have a single Sikh character – to me this seems in stark contrast to what I’ve seen of Delhi – the genial, hard-working and hospitable Sardar seemed to be ubiquitous . Perhaps, in ROM’s ideal world, all of them have been eliminated as early as 1984 by his sponsors?

Rakeyshmian, real life is somewhat different. When your sponsors invite the beards from Swat to power in Delhi 2 years hence, you wouldn’t even be able to ply your trade. Heard that some Hollywood studio wants to release your movie in English. To your credit, I will say that you’ve done a much better job mocking the idea of India than Danny Boyle and his Slumdog. Wish you all the best in your quest feed off the corpse of the nation!

Scumbag Millionaires

The man can't believe it! He walks away, shaking his head, thinking "I basically get a bunch of Indian actors to show Indians as brutal, eye-gouging, Muslim killing piles of shit, and look what I get.... The ever oily, ever sneering millionaire lawyer spokesman of the Indian ruling party, inadvertantly blurts out the truth - "It was because of the atmosphere that our government created that a movie like Slumdog could be made"----How true - for 55 years these kleptocrats kept the poor poor, and the Muslims gypped...

The liberal elite glided into the elegant party in South Mumbai and yakked with the dimwitted Bollywood Star..."You know, you really made us proud by showing the true face of Dharavi, yaar... such filth and crooked people, you know, we must ask the commissioner to evict all of them and send them back, can't have such violent people so close to the airport! Post Script: The one nice thing about this whole sordid tale is the simple speech by Resul, where he refers to India as the civilization that gave the universal sound "Om", and dedicated his award to the Nation... he made us proud as Indians, on a stage where people were basically throwing shit at us... and for the kind attention of the liberal P-secs, we know and don't care about what his religion is.
